About NFL Coverage Map

NFL Coverage Map is an independent website that helps fans find out which NFL games are on, when they kick off in their time zone and how each game is likely to be televised.

What the site provides

Where the data comes from

Schedule data — dates, kickoff times, venues, scores and game status — comes from a third-party sports data provider through its API. It is not an official NFL data source, and the site is built so the provider can be replaced without changing any page.

TV listings come from the same provider. They are often added close to kickoff and can be incomplete or include local stations. We show them as "listed" channels, not as a guarantee of what your TV will show.

Geographic coverage data — which TV markets receive which game — is not available from our data source. We never draw broadcast regions or claim that a specific location will receive a specific game. The site is built so that a licensed coverage dataset can be added later; until then, the map shows where games are played.

Team metadata (conference, division, approximate stadium coordinates) is maintained by us and used for grouping, map markers and the nearest-market tool. US map outlines come from the U.S. Census Bureau via the public-domain us-atlas project.

How the data is updated

Pages are rendered on demand from cached data. The current season's schedule refreshes about every five minutes, TV listings every 30 minutes to a few hours depending on how close the games are, and past seasons less often. If the data source is unavailable, the site keeps showing the last good copy and says so. Each page shows a "Last updated" time.
