NFL Webcast Information
“Webcast” is an older word for a live broadcast over the internet. For NFL games it now means the official online simulcasts offered by the networks and streaming services — here's how they work and when this week's games are on.
This page is informational. We don’t host, embed or link to game streams; we explain the topic and point to the official ways NFL games are shown on TV and online.
What a webcast is
A webcast is any live or recorded program delivered over the internet instead of over the air or by cable. The term dates from the early days of online video; today most people say "streaming". When fans search for an NFL webcast, they usually want to know whether a game can be watched online and where.
How official NFL webcasts work
- Simulcasts: the online stream is the same telecast as on TV, delivered by the network's app or a live TV streaming service.
- Streaming-first games: some packages are online by design, such as Thursday Night Football on Prime Video.
- Sign-in: network apps may require a subscription or a TV provider account.
- Location: apps that carry local CBS and FOX games check where you are, so regional rules still apply.
- Mobile: NFL+ shows live local and primetime games on phones and tablets.

Webcasts and regional availability
A webcast of a Sunday afternoon game reaches the same areas as the TV broadcast. If your local station doesn't carry a game, the network's app won't show it to you either. The NFL coverage map shows which games share a regional window, and regional coverage explains how each market's game is chosen.
Watching from outside the US
US network apps generally work only in the US. Outside it, the NFL's international streaming service — NFL Game Pass, offered through DAZN in many countries — or a local rights holder carries the games. Each game page lists the international channels in our data feed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does NFL webcast mean?
A webcast is a broadcast delivered over the internet. For the NFL it means watching a game live online — today usually through a network’s streaming app or a live TV streaming service that simulcasts the TV broadcast.
Are NFL webcasts free?
Official NFL webcasts generally need a subscription or a TV provider sign-in. The free way to watch is over-the-air TV with an antenna, which covers your local stations.
Why does an NFL webcast say a game is not available in my area?
Sunday afternoon games are regional. Streaming apps check your location and only show the CBS or FOX games assigned to your market; other regional games are available through NFL Sunday Ticket.
